Ofelia Arceo in blue scrubs beside a vital-signs monitor in a hospital hallway, the work she did before law school

Ofelia Arceo

Founding partner, Fresno office

I spent eleven years lifting patients on night shifts. I know what a back injury does to a paycheck.

Before law school I worked as a nursing assistant at a hospital in Fresno, mostly nights. I hurt my own back on that job, and I filed my claim without a lawyer. It took a year longer than it should have.

I started this firm to handle claims for hospital and care-home workers, warehouse crews and farmworkers. I handle the Fresno office's cases and the firm's hearings, in Spanish or English.

How Ofelia prepares a hearing

Before a hearing, Ofelia reads the insurer's file the way the judge will, and looks for the record that answers each objection. Usually it exists; it just never reached the right desk.

She meets every client the week before, in their language, to walk through the questions in the order they will come.
