FAQ
Questions injured workers ask us first
Does it cost anything to talk to you?
No. The first consultation is free, in person or by phone, and it doesn't commit you to anything.
How do you get paid?
From the benefits you receive, as a percentage the law limits. Nothing up front and nothing by the hour. Some case costs may also come out of your benefits; we explain each one first.
Does my immigration status matter?
In many states, workers' comp covers injured workers whatever their status. We don't need to know your status to take your case, and what you tell us stays confidential.
Can my employer fire me for filing?
Punishing a worker for filing a comp claim is against the law in most places. If it happens, tell us; it can be a claim of its own.
The insurer wants a recorded statement. Should I give one?
Talk to a lawyer first. You can politely say you'll call back once you have one.
I already have a claim open. Can you take it over?
Yes. Many clients come to us after the claim has started. Bring every letter you've received.
Do I have to come to the office?
No. Many clients meet with us by phone or video and sign papers by text. Come in when it suits you.
Which office should I call?
The one nearest your work or your home. Any office can help, and your file can move between them.
Didn't see your question?
Ask it on the phone. The first consultation is free.
