Disability benefits
When you can't work while you heal, or can't go back
Workers' comp pays part of your wages while a doctor keeps you off work, and more if the injury leaves lasting damage.
Temporary disability is the check that replaces part of your pay while you recover. Permanent disability is paid when a doctor finds the injury won't fully heal, and the amount depends on how much of your work you can still do.
The numbers come from medical reports, so the reports matter. We make sure the doctor hears about the work you actually do, not only the job title on the form.

What a claim can include
Medical care
Doctor visits, surgery, therapy and prescriptions for the work injury, paid by the insurer.
Temporary disability
A share of your wages while the doctor keeps you off work, or on light duty your employer can't offer.
Permanent disability
Payments for an injury that leaves lasting limits, based on what the doctors find.
Help returning to work
In some cases, a voucher or training for a different job when you can't go back to the old one.
Questions about the checks
How much will the disability check be?
Usually a portion of your average weekly pay, up to a limit set by law. We work out your number from your pay stubs at the first meeting.
Can I work somewhere else while I'm on disability?
Ask us first. Other work can lower or stop the checks, and the insurer will want to know about it.
Should I accept a settlement?
Not before someone has read it with you. A settlement can close your future medical care along with the claim.
Bring your pay stubs and medical papers
With those we can tell you what the checks should be, and whether you're getting them.
